It Didn’t Exist

Describe a phase in life that was difficult to say goodbye to.

I was hanging on for dear life to a world that only existed in my mind. Once the notion of it actually not existing took root & started to grow, the real life began to fill in. Like dying & coming alive at the same time. It didn’t take long at all before I’d said goodbye to my entire (non existent) life & was building anew. It is, unrecognizably, so far behind me. I’ll never be there again.

Like Grandmother, Like Granddaughter

I had an important meeting today. In person, not over Zoom. I was looking forward to it & didn’t want to go at the same time. I couldnt miss it so I asked for help. I got the help! & so I went! My hair was an issue, as it always is, let me tell it. I kept it classic & wore it, as I’ve seen in a photo, my grandmother wear hers. It went over well, everyone loved it. To me it was just ‘like grandmother, like granddaughter’.

What advice would you give to your teenage self?

It’s nice to see you! Have you eaten? Are you thirsty? Have a seat, I want to share some very important things with you & it’s crucial to your wellbeing that you pay close attention to & never abandon these words, ok? You have a beautiful spirit & your feelings/emotions will always matters here. Out there in the world there will be all kinds of people that will be uncomfortable with you just being you. Sometimes there may be an explanation for this & sometimes not. Be you anyway. Never allow what’s going on on the outside disrupt what is going on on the inside of you. Your heart nor your mind. At the most inopportune times you will be afraid , it is then that you must also be brave. That’s the only option. You can chose family from amongst others when your biological one fails. If you are ever faced with a tough situation that requires closure, it is your responsibility toward yourself to provide closure. You shut it down. You will never need another’s permission to care for yourself, it is solely your responsibility. You will be just fine (offering a smile & soft caress). Always have goals hobbies & a good sense of self. Nourish them. Care for & love yourself & do not ever settle for less. If you ever need me I’ll be right here/come running. (kiss on the forehead).
