…last night, with my childhood front door I found myself wrestling. It was off the hinges literally along with the security bars and showed signs of both dry rot and severe rust. I remember seeing Velcro holding a few of the bars in place. I tried making many adjustments to both the door and the bars that were in no way ‘cooperating’. I fooled around for so long that I was confused about if the security bars belonged on the outside or inside of the door. Then I noticed that when I stepped outside still trying to make things work the small front yard resembled the exhausting landscape from many other dreams I’ve had. Dirty oily rocky. Upon seeing that I woke up. I have a certain fondness for this childhood home that I ought to let go of … like I did the security bars and door. There’s nothing there for me. That is the conclusion that I’ve come to. That’s what I intend to do moving forward. ✌️
